Review:
Monkey Man is a high octane action movie which is not for the faint of heart. The movie is set in the town of Yatana. This movie showcases Dev Patel’s talent behind and in front of the camera. He shines in his Directorial debut by weaving a gripping narrative which includes themes of discrimination, poverty , experiences of the Hijra community, vengeance and the integration of mythological story into it. The movie is supported by an ensemble cast which makes the characters and the setting feel authentic.
One of the best component of the movie is the jaw dropping action sequences which are brutal and bloodsoaked. This film gives us an adrenaline rush from the start to finish. There is a training montage which is cleverly supported by a tabla soundtrack in the place of a standard rock piece. The cinematography of the movie is brilliantly executed by Sharone Meirly and excels particularly in the action scenes.
Overall “Monkey Man” is a movie that is definitely worth watching for its high octane action scenes and the storyline. Initially it will test the patience of the audience in the first half but it is worth the wait for the second half of the movie which will be a cinematic rollercoaster ride for the audience.
